Dublin with the Moning Maniacs, Day 2

"Dublin's going to be a fecking ghost town if this keeps up.
I stare. White bumps and knobs and pillars, folks are coated with hoar frost then glazed with a thick shiny layer of ice. Icicles hang from their hands and elbows."
~Iced, Karen Marie Moning

The lunch gathering planned for today had to be canceled when the venue wasn't able to get their food delivery to provide lunch. Instead, the Shelbourne hotel provided a ballroom and cash bar for a social time together. Get 200 (or so) people in a room with at least one thing in common and it's a party! Karen Marie Moning graciously greeted the fans and posed for hundreds of photos.

Food seemed to be an afterthought, but eventually one must eat. A lively elf watched over our lunch  at Oliver St. John Gogarty's Pub. In addition to a great seafood chowder, live music begins in the afternoon.
The main event for Friday night was the "corset crawl." It's a pub crawl, but wearing corsets. This is a tradition when the convention is held in New Orleans, but why break with tradition just because you're in Dublin in a snow storm?
I share a room with 4 ladies in a hostel just across the bridge from the Temple Bar district. It's a little cramped when we we're all getting ready, but it works for us.

The hostel will rent you a towel for 2 Euros. (It's a hand towel.)

A fun night of friends, music, and drink!
